I am trying to get a position with a law firm through temping as a word processer. I am skilled in the systems industry but not as a word processer. I am really looking for a permanent position but will take temping to get the experience.
The tests I have been given were horrendous but I am sure they were worthwhile. Any advice for someone like me? I don't want to waste time testing and entertaining agencies. I just want to work. Thank you. |

the tests are designed to FAIL & keep you at a LOWER salary level so DO NOT TAKE THEM -- only test at the agency level & still beware & also REFUSE to interview for a temp job or LET THE TEMP AGENCY PAY YOU to interview --
it's all about intimidation & lack of trust so DO NOT fall into this sick game!!! |

If you are new to temping and you don't have a good record with your temp agency, it would probably be a good idea not to test at places like Simpson Thacher, Cadwalader, Sullivan Cromwell etc. If two or three of these places say that you failed their test, your agency will probably not send you anywhere else to test.
If you go into word processing centers in New York City, you see Centers that are ALL 1. ugly black women from the Caribbean; 2. dumbass wannabe actors; 3. young gay guys; or 4. Loser White Trash Beauches Seriously, if you walk into a WP Center and the people in that Center don't look like you, then you are probably not going to pass their test. If you are a Black American Male and you walk into a word processing center full of Dumb Scary Butt-Ugly Beauches from the Caribbean, you are not going to pass their test. Personally, I don't take tests anymore. The top tier law firms and investment banks have customized MS Word so everyone needs to be trained on their systems. And, if a company really needs someone to do work, they are not going to wait weeks for people to pass some test. New York City is a very big place. Yes, in order to work at a handful of places you have to pass their test and be as fahked as they are. But, if you want to work and make a living, there are other places to work. |
