Broderskab (Brotherhood) by Nicolo Donato is currently playing at the Rome Film Festival. The "trade papers" in the US keep referring to the film by its "international title" Brotherhood (which makes it very hard to find on the net - there being a lot of films with Brotherhood in the title) and have not provided links to any website about the film. I have finally been able to "track down" some specific information about Broderskab and the trailer / clip above. Synopsis Lars leaves the army and joins a group of neo-Nazis, which organises ruthless raids against Arabs and homosexuals. Apprenticeship to the 'brotherhood' is tough and Lars is supported by Jimmy, who acts as his mentor, charged with testing his trustworthiness and the preparation of fundamentalist far right texts in the style of 'Mein Kampf'. Unforeseeably, a passionate affair ensues between the two men. A love lived in secret, until the group's racist and violent rules end up forcing the pair to face the inevitable quandary: to betray their ideological 'brothers' or betray their lover other and their own feelings. Whatever the choice, it will lead to violence one way or another, whether physical or mental. Rome Film Festival Neo Nazis Gays As you may be aware if you follow this blog, a number of film makers have examined the issue of Gay Men being fascinated with things Nazis. Bruce LaBruce has the film(s) Skin Gang / Skin Flick. Rosa von Praunheim also examined the issue in his documentary "Men, Heroes and Gay Nazis". Donato was fascinated by the paradox of homosexuals in radical right-wing environments and saw a good story in it. He presented the idea to Lindhardt who liked it. Then Donato contacted another actor, Morten Holst, and his father, the producer Per Holst, and they were interested in the project, too. The screenwriter Rasmus Birch developed the screenplay with Donato, and the project was supported by the Danish Film Institute’s RÅFILM fund, which is aimed at features with budgets below 10 million kroner (1.34 million euros). Finally, David Dencik and Nicolas Bro came aboard and "Brotherhood" became a reality. dfi.dk -------------------- Marion Paige

The fourth edition of the International Rome Film Festival awarded the Golden Marc’Aurelio Award for best film to Danish-Italian Nicolo Donato’s feature directorial debut Brotherhood (Brotherskab).
Donato’s film delves into the unexpected love that erupts between two young men in a radical right wing group. Trust Nordisk is handling world sales on the project. Screendaily -------------------- Peter Everhard

The video below is from the Bruce LaBruce / Cazzo film(s) Skin Flick / Skin Gang. This is Cazzo model Vinzent playing the Skin Head Manfred in the movie. Manfred is a sort of goof ball who wants to be in the gang and act tough like the other Skin Heads. Skin FLICK is the theatrical version of the movie and Skin GANG is the hardcore version of the movie for the gay adult market.
