clip from The Fearless Vampire Killers starring Roman Polanski I don't think the Esquire article What's Really Going on With All These Vampires? makes a very convincing case that Young Girl's Craving for Vampires is really a Lust for Hot Gay Guys. However, the article makes for some interesting reading. I do agree with most Hardcore Horror / SciFi Fans, there is something very weird and fucked up about this fucking Twilight series with Day Walking Sparkly Vampires. However, Once you dismiss the totally dismissable Twilight shit, there is not much of a case to be made that Vampries represent Hot Gay Guys in American Culture. Edward, the romantic hero of the Twilight series, is a sweet, screwed-up high school kid, and at the beginning of his relationship with Bella, she is attracted to him because he is strange, beautiful, and seemingly repulsed by her. This exact scenario happened several times in my high school between straight girls and gay guys who either hadn't figured out they were gay or were still in the closet Esquire The Esquire article cites a number of movies and tv shows to support its "theory" that Vampires represent Gay Guys. However, the article does NOT mention the one movie I know of with an actual Gay Vampire, i.e., The Fearless Vampire Killers. The clip above is from that movie. -------------------- |
