During one summer when I went home from College, I worked at my father's factory. There was another kid working there for the summer and I would say that he looked like Christopher Atkins did in Blue Lagoon.

Now the fact that this kid had curly hair caused everyone to wonder if he could be Black, so no one (except me) would talk to him. The Blacks didn't talk to him because they thought he could be White and the Whites didn't talk to him because they thought he could be Black.

The guys working at this factory came up with this little scheme to figure out what race this kid was and to determine whether or not they should talk to him. At this time (and maybe still) Louisiana printed your race on your drivers license, so all of these guys started talking about their driver's license pictures in order to get this kid to show them HIS license.

When the kid showed his license, it said that his race was WHITE, so the Whites started talking to him and the Blacks continued to ignore the kid.

The Woman With The Rosetta Stone Face

I walked into a cookie store some years ago and I saw this woman who's face was like a "Rosetta Stone" to my mother's face and the face of everyone that I have ever been attracted to. This woman's face showed me, more or less, that I had been attracted to essentially the same type of people my whole life, guys who looked like my mother.

Now, this woman was White and from France, my mother is Black and was born in Louisiana.

When I first saw this woman's face, the following pictures immediately went through my mind, my mother, a hot German Guy that I was at the time attracted to, and the face of everyone that I have ever been attracted to in my life. I just stood there staring at this woman with my mouth open for a while.

I suppose in a Hollywood movie, I would have married this woman and had kids and lived happily every after. However, this is Manhattan.
