I am not quite sure what exactly is at work with you eat papain that causes it to change your face so much.
Papain in the enzyme in papaya and pineapples and it is a protein digesting enzyme. I don't know if the papain is eating away a layer of dead skin or if the papain is eating protein in your digestive tract and causing you to get more rehabilitating sleep. But I do know that taking papain before going to bed will result in an overnight face lift. Back in the day, when I was heavy RAW FOODS, I took handfulls of papaya enzymes all day long and before going to bed, and I would wake up to a new face every morning. I suspect that taking a lot of papaya enzymes may in fact result in the enzyme eating way a layer of dead skin. The reason I believe this is that I OD-ed once on Bromelain (which has the enzyme in papaya-papain AND the enzyme in pineapples-bromelain) and the next day I had a burned layer of skin on my face. It took almost a week for this dead burnt like layer of skin to go away. The biggest problem with taking papaya enzymes is that most of the supplements don't tell you how much papain is in each tablet. So, you could like eat a whole bottle of papaya enzymes in a day (which I have in fact done on more than one occassion) and it would have only marginal effect (because there could be very little papain in each tablet). Bromelain (the enzyme in pineapples) is almost always labled and you can tell how much bromelain you are getting with each tablet. And because pineapple enzymes have both papain and bromelain in them, I usually buy pineapple enzymes instead of papaya enzymes. But, you have to be very careful how much bromelain you take because if you take too much you could literally get burned. -------------------- |

The first time I went Raw (as in Raw Food), I did it mostly because I didn't like cooking. I had a raw food "cookbook" and I could mix up all of these things without cooking.
It was only after I had been raw for a while that I took note of what was happening to me. After my initial "conversion", I assumed that it was meat that caused most of my problems. But I subsequently learned that it wasn't meat per se. When I fell off of raw and started eating cooked foods again, I still tried not to eat much meat. There was a pancake house near my apartment in Chicago at the time and I went there instead if eating meat. Well eating pancakes proved to be as bad for my health and mental state as eating meat. And, I realized that it was not meat per se that was causing me problems but YEAST. If I take anything with a lot of yeast in it I notice the effect immediately. Once, I just concluded that I could not take vitamin supplements because whenever I took vitamin supplements I felt tired and run down. But, I subsequently found out that most cheap vitamins have a lot of yeast in them and it was the yeast that was causing the problem. Most Blacks (and any ethnic group that traditionally did not herd cows) cannot tolerate the sugar in Milk (latose). So, if you are one of the people who cannot digest latose and you drink milk, then the latose sits in your digestive tract undigested and serves as food for yeast to grow in. In a similar way, I think, meat serves as a breeding ground for yeast because meat takes longer to digest and is in your body longer. The perfect diet for me is raw foods, raw fruits and vegetables. But I can approximate feeling somewhat normal if I eat meat by taking papaya or pineapple enzymes, taking psyllium (sp) and drinking lots of water. What I think happens is that the enzymes help digest the meat and the psyllium (sp?) speeds the flow of the meat out quickly. -------------------- |

In the old days when I bought papaya enzymes, I used this stupid brand that did not label the amount of papain that was in each tablet. I think there was very little papain in those tablets because I would eat two and three bottles of them a day (back then).
I now make sure that I buy a brand of papaya enzyme that labels the amount of papain in each tablet. Last night, I took about 20 tablets of papaya enzymes with 200mg of papain in each tablet and, I did NOT wake up gorgeous. I don't understand the problem, I should be stunning right now. If I have to risk getting burned again to be beautiful, then that is just what I'll have to do. I'm going to take 10 200mg papain tablets and two 500mg bromelain tablets and I should be absolutely beautiful tomorrow. If I'm not stunning tomorrow morning, some vitamin companies are going to be hearing from me come Monday. -------------------- |
