You can literally go crazy trying to figure out website rankings in search engines.
There is one website on temping that has traffic so low that it is ranked as a personal page, yet this site is showing up first in a number of search sites. I won't even mention that the site lists temp agencies that have been out of business for years and looks like shit. What that shit site seems to have going for it is that it is so crappy looking and has so little traffic that the companies that pay for advertising on search sites don't consider it as a threat. If you were to go by traffic solely, then the top 10 or 20 websites on temping in NYC would all be our company's websites. In fact, because of the way our sites are designed (i.e. with actual html pages instead of dynamically) if you search any term relating to temping or temp agencies in New York City, the first two or three pages of your result would ALL be our company's website (if someone didn't manually prevent this from happening). It seems to me that Hotjobs.com and Monster.com have enough money to come up with a way to design their websites so that their pages are search engine robot friendly. As it is now, Hotjobs.com and Monster.com would probably not show up in qoogle at all because the "pages" on their websites are dynamically generated and do not seem to be search engine robot friendly. -------------------- |

I'm Up Against A Ten Year Old Abandoned Website
Tell me this, how many times do you think the phrase "temp agencies" has been used on craigslist? With craigslist' traffic and the sheer number of times that "temp agencies" has probably been used on the job forums of the 45 cities craigslist is in, you would expect EVERY search reasult in every search engine to be something on craigslist. Clearly, there has to be some kind of filtering going on with respect to sites that have very large numbers of "pages". And, I would say that probably the only other website with more "searchable pages" on temping than this one would be craigslis (search engine robots don't seem to be able to get into hotjobs.com, monster.com etc.). As far as I can tell, temping.com has been abandoned for about 10 years, yet this site comes up before mine in some search engines. What does it say about me that I can't compete against a ten year old abandoned well site? -------------------- |
